Before illustrating children's books, DiSalvo worked as an artist for Hallmark Cards. In 1982, she met then-Senior Editor Jane Feder〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Jane Feder Representing Children's Book Illustration – DyAnne DiSalvo )〕 at Harper and Row, now HarperCollins.
